Rockport Art Association's 66th Annual Christmas Nativity Pageant

In the spirit of the holidays, the Rockport Art Association is once again hosting the Annual Christmas Nativity Pageant, in partnership with the Rockport Chamber of Commerce. The pageant will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 5pm.

Each year hundreds of spectators gather to watch the live re-enactment of the story of baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Bethlehem inn and the stable. The pageant begins with a torchlit procession which starts at Dock Square and proceeds up Main Street to the Congregational Church. Here the story of Jesus’ birth is brought to life through a live narration and Christmas songs sung by a full choir.

The pageant was originated by Dr. William F. Strangeman and Mrs. Aldro Hibbard in 1947, as a gift from the Rockport Art Association to the village. It remains a solid holiday season fixture to this day.

This year’s pageant would not be possible without this year’s primary sponsor, Rockport National Bank, through their very generous donation, the support of the Rockport Rotary Club and the efforts of scores of dedicated individuals.
